About Me

Chris & Melisa
Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I began blogging in 2007 and since then have posted hundreds of articles, many of which remain archived here. With so much information available on the internet, I am humbled that you are here and hope you find something of value during your visit. I write mainly about theological topics from the perspective of the Baptist tradition. Occasionally I also touch on the economy, politics and social issues, always from a Christian point of view.

The rise of social media has made the world seem like a much smaller place and  I have been blessed to meet people from across the United States and around the world. We are only just beginning to understand the power of social media and I for one am excited about it! The potential to connect with others across the planet is amazing. Visitors to my site come from over 130 nations around the globe from all walks of life.

In 2016, my family and I relocated to Valdosta, GA where I began my ministry at Northside Baptist Church as Education and Evangelism Pastor in January of that year. In April 2018, I transitioned to the role of Administration Pastor. I continue to serve both as the Sunday School director for the Valdosta Baptist Association, a role I begin in April 2016, and as a member of the Board of Visitors for Truett McConnell University which I began in October 2016. More recently, in Janaury 2018, I began a three year journey serving as vice president of the Georgia Baptist Association of Christian Educators (GBACE). In January 2019, I became president-elect of GBACE  and Lord willing will serve in 2020 as president of the organization. Also in Janaury 2019 I began a five year term as a trustee of the Georgia Baptist Foundation.

My education credentials include Bachelor of Science in Management (National-Louis University), Master of Business Administration - Finance (Keller Graduate School of Management), Master of Religious Education (Liberty University Rawlings School of Divinity, formerly Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary), and Doctor of Education from
The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. The title of my thesis is "Epistemological Development In Pre-Ministry Undergraduates Attending Secular Universities" which I successfully defended October 2015. In the Fall of 2018 I began taking several classes with University of the Cumberlands in their Doctor of Philosophy program to help round out my leadership training from an academic perspective.

I have not written a personal doctrinal statement, though I fully support the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, and the various ministries of the Georgia Baptist and Southern Baptist Conventions. I am a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, am a signatory to the Manhattan Declaration and the Nashville Statement, and affirm the Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. I use a number of English translations for study, though primarily teach from the ESV (English Standard Version). On occasion, I also teach from the NASB, CSB, and the NKJV.

In addition to my blog, you can also find me on these other social media platforms: InstagramTwitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. I am happy to connect and love meeting new people. Also, comments on my posts are welcome. In fact, I encourage them!  The more discussion the better.

The opinions I express here are my own and not reflective of any organization with which I may be affiliated. Opinions expressed by others either in comments or as a guest post are the author's and do not necessarily reflect my own views on the topic.
